All of the wedding events that are at Kilkea Castle will be adults only.

Do I need to come to the events in Dublin?

Absolutely not! We have some plans in Dublin for those that will be there the weekend before, but these are casual events - we will have RSVP's just to have a general idea of who to expect. Feel free to come to whatever events you can make it to!

Will you be serving food at Welcome Drinks at the Castle?

Welcome Drinks will just be drinks! Kilkea Castle has a restaurant called Hermione's onsite - you can make dinner reservations ahead of time, which I highly recommend! If you have a rental car, there is a town a few minutes away with some pubs that serve food as well.

What should I wear to the wedding?

The attire is black tie optional, which means floor length gowns for women (think formal dresses, something you could wear to a ball/gala) and dark suits and/or tuxes for men. Kilts are welcome 😉

How long will the wedding be?

Irish wedding celebrations are longer than American weddings - after the 2:30 pm ceremony, you can expect a drinks reception (the Irish version of cocktail hour) that will be at least 2 hours, a sit down 4 course meal, followed by a band set and a DJ set with evening bites between. The whole event will likely will run around 10 hours, with the castle bar staying open until 4 am for the night owls. It's a marathon, not a sprint 😉
